Membership Handbook

1. Welcome Message from the President


On behalf of the St. Vincent Taekwondo Federation (STF), I welcome you to our national Taekwondo family. Whether you are a new student, an experienced black belt, a coach, or a club owner, this handbook is your guide to understanding our values, structure, policies, and the benefits of membership.

The STF is more than a governing body — it is a community dedicated to discipline, respect, personal growth, and sporting excellence. This handbook ensures that every member knows their rights, responsibilities, and the opportunities available within our federation.

2. About the STF


Mission: To develop Taekwondo from grassroots to elite level in St. Vincent and the Grenadines through structured training, fair governance, and community engagement.

Vision: To make Taekwondo a sport where every Vincentian — regardless of age, gender, or background — can thrive, compete, and lead.


Core Values:

  • Integrity – Honesty and fairness in training and competition.

  • Excellence – Striving for the highest standards.

  • Inclusion – Opportunities for all.

  • Safety – Protection of athletes and members in all STF activities.


3. Membership Types


A. Individual Membership

  • Junior Members – Ages 15 and under.

  • Senior Members – Ages 16 and above.

  • Black Belt Members – Holders of 1st Dan or higher.


Requirements:


  • Must train at an STF-affiliated dojang.

  • Hold a valid STF license renewed annually.


B. Dojang (Club) Membership


  • Full Membership – Clubs with certified STF coaches and compliance with all STF policies.

  • Provisional Membership – New clubs in the process of meeting full membership requirements.


Requirements:


  • All instructors must hold a valid STF Coach License.

  • Compliance with STF’s grading, safety, and safeguarding policies.


4. Rights of Members


  • Access to STF events, competitions, and training programs.

  • Eligibility for selection to national teams (subject to selection policies).

  • Right to vote (where applicable) at STF meetings.

  • Representation through club delegates at STF decision-making forums.

  • Protection under STF safeguarding and safe sport policies.


5. Responsibilities of Members


  • Uphold the values and code of conduct of the STF.

  • Maintain current licenses and meet eligibility requirements.

  • Respect referees, coaches, and officials.

  • Follow all competition and grading rules.

  • Support the growth of Taekwondo in the community.


6. Code of Conduct (Summary)

All members are expected to:

  • Show respect to all participants, regardless of background.

  • Compete fairly and accept results with dignity.

  • Avoid abusive, discriminatory, or unsportsmanlike behavior.

  • Follow instructions from STF officials during events.

  • Report breaches of policy or misconduct.

7. Membership Benefits


  • Access to official grading and Dan certification recognized nationally and internationally.

  • Entry into national and international competitions.

  • Eligibility for national team selection.

  • Access to STF training camps, seminars, and workshops.

  • Athlete insurance coverage at STF-sanctioned events.

  • Recognition and awards for achievements and contributions.


8. Licensing & Renewal


  • All members must hold a valid STF license.

  • Licenses expire annually on March 1st.

  • Renewal requires up-to-date contact details and payment of membership fees.


9. Grading & Promotion


  • Gradings must be conducted by STF-approved examiners.

  • Belt promotions follow the STF Grading & Promotion Policy.

  • Minimum training time and attendance requirements must be met.


10. Competitions & Selection


  • Selection to the national team is based on the STF Competition Rules & Selection Policy.

  • Participation in competitions requires a valid STF license and adherence to rules.

  • Uniforms must comply with STF Equipment & Uniform Policy.


11. Safeguarding & Welfare


  • The STF is committed to child protection, safe sport, and anti-doping compliance.

  • Members must report any safeguarding concerns to the designated STF Child Protection Officer.

  • All STF events follow the Injury & Concussion Management Policy.


12. Complaints & Disciplinary Procedures


  • Complaints should be made in writing to the STF Secretary.

  • The STF will follow due process in accordance with the Disciplinary & Complaints Procedure.

  • Sanctions may include warnings, suspension, or termination of membership.


13. Communication


  • Official communication will be made via email or posted on the STF website.

  • Members must keep contact details up to date.


14. Termination of Membership


  • Membership may be terminated for breaches of STF rules, failure to renew licenses, or misconduct.

  • Members have the right to appeal disciplinary decisions.


15. Acknowledgment & Agreement


All members are required to sign the Membership Agreement Form confirming they have read, understood, and agree to abide by the STF Membership Handbook and all related policies.
