St. Vincent Taekwondo Federation (STF) – Digital Communications Code of Ethics

1. Purpose

The purpose of this Code of Ethics is to guide all members, officials, coaches, referees, and volunteers of the St. Vincent Taekwondo Federation (STF) in using digital platforms responsibly, respectfully, and in a way that strengthens our sport, our community, and our reputation.

While the Social Media & Communications Policy outlines rules and disciplinary measures, this Code of Ethics focuses on how to communicate well—encouraging positivity, professionalism, and integrity in every online interaction.

2. Guiding Principles

All digital communications by STF members should reflect the following values:

  • Respect – Treat all individuals with dignity, regardless of background, beliefs, or opinions.

  • Integrity – Communicate honestly and transparently, without misleading others.

  • Responsibility – Consider the potential impact of your words and images before sharing them.

  • Positivity – Promote Taekwondo, the STF, and our community in an uplifting and inspiring way.

  • Safety – Protect yourself and others by respecting privacy and safeguarding personal information.

3. Responsible Communication Standards

3.1 Representing the STF Online

When you identify yourself as part of the STF—whether in your profile, posts, or comments—you are a representative of the Federation.

  • Uphold our reputation by ensuring your content reflects STF’s professionalism and respect for the sport.

  • Avoid language, images, or associations that could be interpreted as discriminatory, aggressive, or inappropriate.

3.2 Accuracy & Honesty

  • Share only accurate, verified information about STF, its members, and events.

  • If you make an error in a post, acknowledge it and correct it promptly.

  • Avoid speculation, rumors, or inflammatory statements.

3.3 Respect for Privacy

  • Obtain permission before sharing photos, videos, or personal information about other members, especially minors.

  • Use STF official channels for formal announcements and sensitive updates.

  • Protect internal STF matters from public disclosure.

3.4 Constructive Engagement

  • If you disagree with someone online, address the matter respectfully and privately when possible.

  • Use disagreements as opportunities for dialogue, not personal attacks.

  • Step away from online arguments that cannot be resolved constructively.

4. Positive Use of Digital Platforms

Members are encouraged to:

  • Share inspiring stories of STF athletes, events, and achievements.

  • Promote upcoming STF activities and opportunities for community involvement.

  • Highlight Taekwondo’s values of discipline, perseverance, and mutual respect.

  • Support fellow members by liking, sharing, and commenting constructively on their achievements.

5. Prohibited Digital Behavior

This Code works alongside the Social Media & Communications Policy’s prohibited content list. In addition, members must avoid:

  • Posting in anger or frustration—take time before responding online.

  • Using STF’s name or logo in personal disputes.

  • Tagging STF in posts that involve controversial or sensitive political or social issues unrelated to Taekwondo.

6. Disciplinary Reference

While this Code is aspirational, serious breaches—such as posting defamatory, pornographic, or violent content—will be addressed under the STF Social Media & Communications Policy and may result in suspension, removal from roles, or termination of membership.

7. Monitoring and Self-Awareness

Remember that digital content is permanent. Even deleted posts can be captured and shared. Always consider:

If the answer is no, do not post it.

8. Review

The STF will review this Code of Ethics annually to ensure it remains aligned with evolving communication trends and community standards.
